Position Summary

Headspace is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Researcher - Risk Management to join our growing legal team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the USA. As a key member of our legal department, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth legal research, analyzing legal risks, and supporting the development and implementation of risk management strategies across the organization. You will work closely with attorneys and other stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations while helping Headspace navigate the evolving landscape of digital health and wellness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive legal research on a wide range of topics related to privacy, data security, intellectual property, regulatory compliance, and other areas relevant to Headspaceโ€™s business.
  • Analyze federal and state laws and regulations to identify potential legal risks and provide clear, concise summaries of findings.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of risk management policies and procedures.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and advise stakeholders on potential impacts to Headspace.
  • Prepare legal memoranda, research reports, and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations to attorneys and other stakeholders.
  • Support the legal team in responding to legal inquiries and resolving legal issues.
  • Maintain accurate and organized legal research files and databases.
  • Collaborate effectively with remote team members using virtual communication tools such as Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and training sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor (JD) or paralegal certification preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in legal research and risk management, preferably in a corporate setting.
  • Strong understanding of legal principles, research methodologies, and legal databases (e.g., Westlaw, LexisNexis).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a remote environment.
  • Proficiency in using virtual collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
  • Must reside in the USA.

Technical Requirements

To ensure a seamless remote work experience, the following technical requirements are essential:

  • Dedicated home office space free from distractions.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection (minimum 50 Mbps download speed and 10 Mbps upload speed).
  • Personal computer with up-to-date operating system and security software.
  • Webcam and headset for virtual meetings.
  • Ability to work during core business hours in the Pacific Time Zone (PST).

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
