Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Operations Analyst - Machine Learning to join our growing Data & Analytics team. This is a fully REMOTE position, allowing you to work from anywhere within the United States. In this role, you will be responsible for optimizing and scaling our machine learning operations, ensuring the reliability, efficiency, and performance of our ML models in production. You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, and product managers to identify opportunities for improvement, automate processes, and implement best practices for ML Ops. You'll be a pivotal player in empowering Discord to deliver personalized experiences to our users.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the operationalization of machine learning models, including deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
• Develop and implement strategies for improving the efficiency, scalability, and reliability of our ML infrastructure.
• Collaborate with data scientists and engineers to build and maintain automated pipelines for model training, validation, and deployment.
• Monitor model performance in production and identify areas for improvement.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to ML model performance and infrastructure.
• Develop and maintain documentation for ML Ops processes and procedures.
• Contribute to the development of best practices for ML Ops within the organization.
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and translate them into technical requirements.
• Mentor and guide junior members of the team.
• Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to a collaborative remote work environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in a data science, machine learning engineering, or operations role.
• Proven experience with deploying and managing machine learning models in production.
• Strong understanding of ML Ops principles and best practices.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with relevant ML libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Experience with cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
• Must be able to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fully remote setting.

Technical Requirements

As a fully remote employee, you will need to meet the following technical requirements:

• Dedicated home office space free from distractions.
• High-speed internet connection with a minimum upload/download speed of 50 Mbps.
• Company-provided laptop and necessary software. A home office stipend will be provided to assist with setting up your workspace.
• Ability to work during core collaboration hours (10 AM - 3 PM Pacific Time) to ensure effective communication with the team.

Desired Skills

• Experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience with data warehousing technologies (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery).
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of monitoring and alerting tools.
• Experience with A/B testing and experimentation.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting to technical and non-technical audiences.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this REMOTE position is $160,000 - $210,000, depending on experience and location within the United States. Discord offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
