Position Summary
Netflix is seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Chief Technology Officer (CTO) - Web Applications to lead our web applications technology strategy and execution. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within the United States. As the Senior CTO, you will be responsible for driving the technical vision, architecture, and development of our web applications, ensuring a seamless and engaging experience for millions of users worldwide. You will lead a team of talented engineers, collaborating closely with product, design, and other engineering teams to deliver cutting-edge solutions that power the Netflix experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and execute the technical roadmap for Netflix's web applications, aligning with the company's overall strategic goals.
- Lead and mentor a team of web application engineers, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Drive architectural decisions and ensure scalability, performance, security, and reliability of our web applications.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Stay abreast of emerging web technologies and trends, evaluating their potential impact on Netflix's web application strategy.
- Oversee the development and implementation of best practices for web application development, testing, and deployment.
- Ensure that our web applications meet the highest standards of security and compliance.
- Champion a data-driven approach to decision-making, utilizing analytics to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Participate in virtual team building activities and contribute to a positive and collaborative remote work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- 15+ years of experience in web application development, with a proven track record of leading and managing engineering teams.
- Deep expertise in modern web technologies, frameworks, and architectures (e.g., React, Angular, Vue.js, Node.js).
- Strong understanding of cloud-based infrastructure and services (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and leadership skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Proven ability to drive innovation and deliver high-quality software products in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Ability to work effectively in a remote environment, demonstrating strong self-discipline, communication, and time management skills.
- Must be located within the United States.
Technical Requirements
As a fully remote employee, you will be responsible for maintaining a professional and productive home office environment. The following technical requirements are essential:
- Dedicated Home Office Space: A quiet and distraction-free workspace.
- High-Speed Internet: A reliable and high-speed internet connection (minimum 50 Mbps download/10 Mbps upload) is required for video conferencing, code downloads, and other work-related activities.
- Equipment Provided: Netflix will provide a home office stipend to cover the cost of necessary equipment such as a laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse, and headset.
- Time Zone Requirements: While we offer flexible working hours, some overlap with Pacific Time (PT) may be required for team meetings and collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary range for this position is $350,000 - $600,000. The actual offer will be based on the candidate's experience, skills, and location.
