Key Responsibilities for Learning Support Assistant:
- Assist students with learning difficulties or disabilities in accessing the curriculum
- Provide one-to-one support to students as directed by the Special Educational Needs Coordinator
- Help create and maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
- Support the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to meet the individual needs of students
- Monitor and record student progress and behaviour
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent
- Experience working with students with special educational needs or disabilities
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and best practices in special education
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Enhanced DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service)
Desired Skills:
- Additional qualifications in Special Educational Needs (SEN) support
- Experience using assistive technology to support learning
- Knowledge of different learning styles and strategies
- Understanding of mental health issues in young people
- First aid certification
Compensation & Benefits:
The salary range for the Learning Support Assistant position at Independent Schools is £18,000 to £22,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
