Position Summary

NerdWallet is seeking a talented and passionate Business Data Scientist specializing in Statistical Analysis to join our growing Data & Analytics team. As a fully remote team member, you will play a crucial role in providing insights and recommendations that drive strategic business decisions. You will leverage your statistical expertise to analyze complex datasets, develop predictive models, and communicate findings to stakeholders across the organization. Key Responsibilities

• Apply statistical techniques such as regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and A/B testing to analyze large datasets and identify trends, patterns, and insights.
• Develop and maintain predictive models to forecast key business metrics and inform strategic decisions.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (e.g., Product, Marketing, Engineering) to understand business needs and translate them into data-driven solutions.
• Design and conduct experiments to test hypotheses and validate assumptions.
• Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders through clear and concise presentations and reports.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest statistical techniques and tools, and share knowledge with the team.
• Contribute to the development of data quality standards and processes.
• Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to a positive and collaborative remote work environment.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of experience in a data science or statistical analysis role.
• Strong proficiency in statistical programming languages such as R or Python.
• Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker.
• Solid understanding of statistical concepts and techniques, including regression analysis, hypothesis testing, and A/B testing.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment.
• Must reside in the USA and be authorized to work in the USA.
• Proven ability to manage time and prioritize tasks effectively while working remotely.

Technical Requirements

To ensure a seamless remote work experience, the following technical requirements must be met:

• A dedicated home office space free from distractions.
• A reliable high-speed internet connection with a minimum download speed of 25 Mbps and upload speed of 5 Mbps.
• A modern computer with sufficient processing power and memory to run data analysis software.
• A webcam and headset for video conferencing.
• Ability to overlap working hours with the Pacific Time Zone (PST) for collaboration with team members (at least 4 hours overlap).
• NerdWallet will provide a one-time stipend to help set up your home office.

Desired Skills

• Master's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
• Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Experience with machine learning techniques.
• Experience with SQL and relational databases.
• Familiarity with financial services industry.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams using tools like Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this fully remote position is $120,000 - $160,000, depending on experience and location.
