Position Summary

Perkins Coie is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Cloud Platform Engineer specializing in AI/ML systems to join our innovative Technology department. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere in the USA. As a Cloud Platform Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure that supports our cutting-edge AI/ML initiatives. You will collaborate with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and software developers to create scalable, reliable, and secure solutions. Your expertise in cloud technologies, DevOps practices, and AI/ML platforms will be crucial in driving our technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure for AI/ML workloads, utilizing services such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to understand their infrastructure requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient solutions.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning and configuration using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for deploying AI/ML models and applications.
  • Monitor and optimize the performance of cloud-based AI/ML systems, identifying and resolving bottlenecks.
  • Ensure the security and compliance of cloud infrastructure, implementing best practices for access control, data encryption, and vulnerability management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to cloud infrastructure and AI/ML systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest cloud technologies and AI/ML trends, evaluating and implementing new tools and techniques.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to the continuous improvement of our remote work processes.
  • Document infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures for remote team access.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in cloud platform engineering, with a focus on AI/ML systems.
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing concepts and technologies, including AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
  • Solid understanding of security best practices for cloud environments.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Proven ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks in a remote setting.
  • Must reside in the USA.

Technical Requirements

To ensure a productive remote work experience, the following technical requirements are necessary:

  • Home Office Setup: A dedicated, quiet workspace free from distractions.
  • Internet Speed: A reliable high-speed internet connection with a minimum upload speed of 10 Mbps and download speed of 50 Mbps.
  • Equipment: Perkins Coie will provide a company laptop and necessary peripherals (monitor, keyboard, mouse, headset). A home office stipend will be provided to assist with setting up your workspace.
  • Time Zone: While this is a fully remote position, some collaboration with team members in Pacific Time (PT) may be required.

Desired Skills

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this fully remote Cloud Platform Engineer - AI/ML Systems position is $140,000 - $180,000, commensurate with experience and location within the USA.
