Position Summary

Mailchimp is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Corporate Counsel - Regulatory Affairs to join our growing legal team. This is a fully remote position, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere in the United States. As Corporate Counsel, you will be responsible for providing legal advice and guidance on a wide range of regulatory matters affecting Mailchimp's products and services. You will work closely with product, engineering, marketing, and other teams to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations. This role is critical in supporting Mailchimp's continued growth and innovation in the ever-evolving landscape of digital marketing and privacy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Providing legal advice and guidance on regulatory matters related to privacy, data security, marketing, advertising, and consumer protection laws.
  • Monitoring and analyzing new and emerging laws and regulations that may impact Mailchimp's business.
  • Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Working with product and engineering teams to design and develop products and services that comply with regulatory requirements.
  • Drafting and negotiating agreements with vendors and partners, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations.
  • Providing training to employees on regulatory compliance matters.
  • Responding to inquiries and investigations from regulatory agencies.
  • Supporting litigation and other legal proceedings related to regulatory matters.
  • Collaborating with other members of the legal team on cross-functional projects.

Required Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to and in good standing with at least one state bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law in the area of regulatory affairs, with a focus on privacy, data security, marketing, or advertising.
  • Strong understanding of privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other state privacy laws.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote environment and collaborate with distributed teams.

Technical Requirements

To be successful in this remote role, you will need the following:

  • Dedicated home office space free from distractions.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection with a minimum upload/download speed of 25 Mbps.
  • Company-provided laptop and equipment.
  • Ability to work during core business hours in the Eastern Time Zone (ET). Some flexibility may be considered.
  • Proficiency in using remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.

Desired Skills

  • Experience working in the technology industry.
  • Experience working with international privacy laws and regulations.
  • Certification in privacy (e.g., CIPP/US, CIPP/E).
  • Familiarity with marketing automation platforms and CRM systems.
  • Strong project management skills.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this remote position is $160,000 - $210,000, commensurate with experience and location. Mailchimp offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
