Key Responsibilities For Credentialing Specialist

The Credentialing Specialist at Ascension Health will play a vital role in maintaining high standards of care and compliance by managing the credentialing and recredentialing processes for our healthcare providers. Key responsibilities include:

- Processing and reviewing applications for credentialing and recredentialing, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Verifying provider qualifications, including education, training, and board certifications, through primary sources.
- Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory and accrediting agency standards to ensure compliance.
- Collaborating with healthcare providers and internal teams to resolve discrepancies and gather missing information.
- Managing the provider database, ensuring timely updates and accuracy of provider credentials.
- Preparing and presenting credentialing files to the Credentialing Committee for review and approval.
- Responding to inquiries regarding credentialing status and providing support to healthcare providers throughout the credentialing process.

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in credentialing within a healthcare setting.
- In-depth knowledge of credentialing processes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office and experience with credentialing databases.

Compensation & Benefits

Ascension Health offers a competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package to support the health and well-being of our employees and their families. The annual salary range for the Credentialing Specialist position is $45,000 to $60,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
