Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Architect - Business Intelligence to join our growing data team. This is a fully remote position based in the United States. As a Data Architect, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and maintaining our Business Intelligence infrastructure. You will collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to understand their data needs and build robust, scalable, and performant solutions that empower data-driven decision-making. You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of data at Figma, enabling us to better understand our users and our business.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement data models, ETL processes, and data warehouses to support Business Intelligence initiatives.
- Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and business stakeholders to understand data requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines that ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability.
- Optimize data infrastructure for performance, scalability, and security.
- Define and enforce data governance policies and standards.
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies and tools to improve our Business Intelligence capabilities.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for data architecture and data pipelines.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to other members of the data team.
- Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to a positive and collaborative remote work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in data architecture, data warehousing, or Business Intelligence.
- Strong understanding of data modeling principles and data warehouse design patterns.
- Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Amazon Redshift.
- Proficiency in SQL and data manipulation languages.
- Experience with ETL tools such as dbt, Airflow, or Informatica.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Must be able to work remotely and independently with reliable internet access.
- Must reside within the United States.
Technical Requirements
As a fully remote employee, you will be responsible for maintaining a suitable home office environment. This includes:
- A dedicated workspace free from distractions.
- A reliable, high-speed internet connection (minimum 50 Mbps download, 10 Mbps upload).
- A modern computer with sufficient processing power and memory to run necessary software.
- A webcam and microphone for video conferencing.
- Comfort with using remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Google Meet, and Jira.
While Figma offers flexible working hours, some collaboration may be required during core business hours within the Pacific Time Zone (PST).
Desired Skills
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau or Looker.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python or R.
- Knowledge of data governance frameworks and best practices.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies.
- Familiarity with the design industry and SaaS business models.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary range for this fully remote Data Architect - Business Intelligence position is $160,000 - $210,000, depending on experience and location within the United States. Figma offers a comprehensive benefits package to support our remote employees, including:
