Key Responsibilities for Health & Safety Officer:
- Develop and implement health and safety policies and procedures in line with legal requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Provide health and safety training to employees and contractors to promote a culture of safety awareness.
- Investigate accidents and incidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, and subcontractors to address health and safety issues and promote a safe working environment.

Required Qualifications:
- NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a Health & Safety Officer in the construction industry.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent organisational skills with a keen eye for detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Desired Skills:
- IOSH Managing Safely or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Experience in conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with CDM Regulations and site safety management.
- Ability to deliver engaging health and safety training sessions.
- Membership of a relevant professional body such as IOSH or IIRSM.

Compensation & Benefits:
The annual salary range for the Health & Safety Officer position at Barratt Developments in Plymouth, South West England, is £30,000 to £35,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
