Position Summary

Chegg is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead BI Developer to join our Business Intelligence team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere within the United States. As a Lead BI Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our business intelligence solutions, enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand their needs, translate them into technical requirements, and deliver actionable insights through interactive dashboards and reports. This role will be crucial in shaping the future of our data infrastructure and analytics capabilities at Chegg. You will mentor junior developers and help to champion BI best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of business intelligence solutions, including data models, ETL processes, and interactive dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across various departments to understand their business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • Develop and maintain data pipelines to ensure data quality, reliability, and accessibility.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and insights that can drive business improvements.
  • Mentor and guide junior BI developers, providing technical expertise and promoting best practices.
  • Participate in code reviews and ensure adherence to coding standards.
  • Contribute to the development of our data warehouse and data lake strategy.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve our BI infrastructure and processes.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest BI technologies and trends.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to a collaborative remote work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business intelligence development, with a strong understanding of data warehousing concepts.
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or SQL Server.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Looker, or Power BI.
  • Experience with ETL tools and processes.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate via video conferencing, instant messaging, and email.
  • Comfortable with a fully remote work environment and managing your own time effectively.

Technical Requirements

As a fully remote employee at Chegg, you are responsible for maintaining a suitable home office environment that supports productivity and collaboration. The following technical requirements must be met:

  • A dedicated workspace free from distractions.
  • A reliable, high-speed internet connection with a minimum upload/download speed of 25 Mbps.
  • A modern computer with a webcam and microphone for video conferencing.
  • Proficiency in using remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
  • While Chegg has employees across all timezones, this role will require working hours that align with the Pacific Time Zone (PST) for meetings and collaboration.
  • Chegg will provide a one-time stipend to assist with setting up your home office.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with cloud-based data platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

  • Experience with data modeling techniques.

Compensation & Benefits

The estimated annual salary range for this fully remote Lead BI Developer position is $130,000 to $170,000, depending on experience and location. Chegg offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
