Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Data Engineer - Machine Learning to join our growing data engineering team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States. As a Lead Data Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our machine learning initiatives. You will work closely with data scientists, machine learning engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure that we have the reliable, scalable, and performant data pipelines necessary to develop and deploy cutting-edge machine learning models.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines for machine learning applications.
• Build data ingestion, transformation, and storage solutions using cloud-based technologies.
• Collaborate with data scientists and machine learning engineers to understand their data needs and provide optimal data solutions.
• Implement data quality monitoring and alerting systems to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
• Optimize data pipelines for performance and cost-efficiency.
• Lead and mentor other data engineers on best practices for data engineering and machine learning.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of our data engineering standards.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in data engineering and machine learning technologies.
• Actively participate in virtual team meetings, stand-ups, and sprint planning sessions to ensure seamless remote collaboration.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on machine learning applications.
• Strong proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience with cloud-based data warehousing technologies such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
• Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools such as Apache Airflow or Prefect.
• Experience with data streaming technologies such as Apache Kafka or Apache Pulsar.
• Solid understanding of data modeling principles and data warehousing concepts.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a remote team environment.
• Proven ability to manage your time effectively and work independently in a remote setting.

Technical Requirements

To ensure a productive and successful remote work experience, the following technical requirements are essential:

• Dedicated Home Office: A quiet and distraction-free workspace. DoorDash will provide a one-time home office stipend to help you set up your workspace.
• Reliable Internet Connection: High-speed internet access with a minimum upload/download speed of 50 Mbps.
• Computer Equipment: DoorDash will provide a company laptop.
• Communication Tools: Proficiency in using Slack, Zoom, and other collaboration tools.
• Time Zone: While this is a fully remote role within the US, preference may be given to candidates in PST or CST time zones to facilitate team collaboration.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this fully remote Lead Data Engineer - Machine Learning position is $170,000 - $230,000, depending on experience and location within the United States. DoorDash offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
