Position Summary
PracticePanther is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Legal Analyst – Privacy & Data Protection to join our growing legal team. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere in the United States. The Lead Legal Analyst will play a critical role in ensuring PracticePanther's compliance with global privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other emerging data protection requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of privacy principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex legal concepts into practical guidance for the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze existing and emerging privacy and data protection laws and regulations globally.
- Advise internal stakeholders on privacy and data protection implications of new and existing products, services, and business initiatives.
- Develop, implement, and maintain privacy policies, procedures, and training programs.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments (PIAs) and data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
- Respond to data subject requests, including access, rectification, erasure, and portability requests.
- Investigate and respond to data breaches and security incidents.
- Manage and maintain records of processing activities (ROPA).
- Negotiate and review data processing agreements (DPAs) with vendors and partners.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product, engineering, security, and marketing, to ensure privacy compliance.
- Stay up-to-date on industry best practices and trends in privacy and data protection.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of a robust privacy compliance program.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor (JD) preferred, but not required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in privacy and data protection, ideally within the technology or legal technology industry.
- Strong knowledge of global privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant laws.
- Experience conducting PIAs and DPIAs.
- Experience drafting and negotiating DPAs.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
- Must be able to work remotely effectively, demonstrating self-discipline, time management skills, and proactive communication.
- Must have a dedicated and quiet workspace conducive to remote work.
Technical Requirements
As a fully remote employee, you are required to maintain a suitable home office environment. This includes:
- High-speed internet access with a minimum upload speed of 10 Mbps and download speed of 50 Mbps.
- A reliable computer with up-to-date operating system and security software.
- A webcam and microphone for virtual meetings.
- Headphones for clear audio communication.
- Adherence to our security protocols for remote access to company systems.
- Must be available for meetings and collaboration during standard business hours in the Eastern Time (ET) zone.
Desired Skills
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM), or Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) certification.
- Experience with legal practice management software.
- Familiarity with cloud computing environments.
- Strong project management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex concepts to a variety of audiences.
- Experience using remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary range for this remote Lead Legal Analyst – Privacy & Data Protection position is $120,000 - $150,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including:
