Position Summary

McKinsey is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Lead Statistical Analyst to join our Business Intelligence team. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere in the USA. As a Lead Statistical Analyst, you will be responsible for providing advanced statistical modeling, data analysis, and insights to support McKinsey's internal business operations and strategic decision-making. You will lead projects, mentor junior analysts, and collaborate with stakeholders across the firm to deliver actionable intelligence that drives business performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and implementation of statistical models to analyze large datasets and identify trends, patterns, and insights.
  • Design and execute complex data analyses to support business initiatives and strategic planning.
  • Develop and maintain data visualizations and dashboards to communicate findings effectively to stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior statistical analysts, providing technical expertise and project support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business leaders, data engineers, and IT professionals, to understand business needs and translate them into analytical solutions.
  • Ensure the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of data used in analyses.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest statistical techniques and technologies and apply them to improve analytical processes.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to a collaborative remote work environment.
  • Present findings and recommendations to senior management via virtual presentations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related quantitative field. Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in statistical modeling, data analysis, and business intelligence.
  • Strong proficiency in statistical software packages such as R, Python (with libraries like pandas, scikit-learn), or SAS.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
  • Solid understanding of statistical concepts and techniques, including regression analysis, hypothesis testing, time series analysis, and machine learning.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex statistical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Must be able to effectively manage your time and prioritize tasks in a remote work environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in successfully managing remote projects and collaborating with distributed teams.

Technical Requirements

To ensure a productive remote work experience, the following technical requirements must be met:

  • Dedicated home office space free from distractions.
  • High-speed internet connection with a minimum download speed of 50 Mbps and upload speed of 10 Mbps.
  • Reliable computer hardware and software, including a laptop or desktop computer, webcam, and microphone.
  • Ability to participate in virtual meetings during standard US business hours (Eastern Time Zone preferred, but flexibility offered).
  • Proficiency in using remote collaboration tools such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, and Slack.

McKinsey provides a one-time home office stipend to assist with setting up your remote workspace.

Desired Skills

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this fully remote Lead Statistical Analyst position is $140,000 - $190,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
