Position Summary
Asana is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Legal Document Review Attorney specializing in Privacy & Data Protection to join our growing legal team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the United States. As a Legal Document Review Attorney, you will play a critical role in ensuring Asana's compliance with global privacy regulations and internal data protection policies. You will be responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and summarizing legal documents related to privacy, data protection, and security. This role requires a strong understanding of privacy laws, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and analyze legal documents, including contracts, policies, procedures, and privacy assessments, for relevance to privacy and data protection.
- Identify and summarize key provisions related to data privacy, data security, and compliance requirements.
- Conduct legal research on privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable data protection laws.
- Assist in the development and implementation of privacy compliance programs and initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including legal, compliance, security, and engineering, to ensure alignment on privacy matters.
- Provide timely and accurate summaries of legal documents to stakeholders.
- Maintain accurate records of reviewed documents and research findings.
- Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to a collaborative remote work environment.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to practice law in at least one US state.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in legal document review, with a focus on privacy and data protection.
- Strong understanding of privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable data protection laws.
- Excellent analytical, research, and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a remote environment.
- Proficiency in using document review platforms and legal research tools.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with remote teams.
- Must have a reliable high-speed internet connection and a dedicated home office space.
Technical Requirements
To ensure a productive and collaborative remote work experience, the following technical requirements are essential:
- Home Office Setup: A dedicated, quiet workspace free from distractions.
- Internet Speed: A stable and high-speed internet connection with a minimum upload speed of 10 Mbps and download speed of 50 Mbps.
- Equipment: Asana will provide a stipend to support the purchase of necessary equipment, such as a laptop, monitor, keyboard, and headset.
- Time Zone: While Asana is flexible with working hours, preference will be given to candidates who can overlap at least 4 hours with Pacific Time (PT) during standard business hours.
- Software: Proficiency in using video conferencing tools (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet), collaboration platforms (e.g., Slack, Asana), and document management systems.
Desired Skills
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certification is a plus.
- Experience with data privacy impact assessments (DPIAs).
- Familiarity with cloud computing and data security principles.
- Experience with contract negotiation and drafting.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary range for this fully remote Legal Document Review Attorney - Privacy & Data Protection position is $90,000 - $120,000, commensurate with experience and location.
