Position Summary
The Network Technician role at Whitbread plc is a remote, full‑time position responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing the company’s network environment. The successful candidate will provide tier‑1 and tier‑2 IT support, configure network devices, and collaborate with cross‑functional teams to resolve connectivity issues, ensuring reliable and secure network performance for all Whitbread plc operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve network connectivity problems for end‑users and corporate sites.
- Configure, install, and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Monitor network performance using monitoring tools and proactively address potential issues.
- Provide first‑line IT support for hardware, software, and network‑related incidents.
- Document network configurations, changes, and incident resolutions in the ticketing system.

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability in network troubleshooting and providing effective IT support.
- Hands‑on experience with network configuration of Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent equipment.
- Strong technical knowledge of TCP/IP, VLANs, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and wireless technologies.
- Proven problem‑solving skills with a methodical approach to incident resolution.
- 0 to 14 years of relevant experience in a network support or technician role.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with remote teams and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment while adhering to service level agreements.
Required Education
Degree or certification classified under Others (e.g., associate degree, vocational training, industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or equivalent).
Desired Skills
- Experience with network monitoring platforms (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios).
- Familiarity with cloud networking concepts and services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
- Knowledge of network security best practices and basic firewall rule management.
- Exposure to scripting or automation tools (PowerShell, Python) for routine tasks.
- ITIL Foundation certification or similar service management training.
Compensation & Benefits
