Key Responsibilities for Nursery Manager:
- Oversee the daily operations of the nursery, ensuring a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for children.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures in line with statutory requirements and best practices.
- Manage and support a team of nursery staff, providing guidance, training, and performance evaluations.
- Maintain effective communication with parents, staff, and external agencies to support the well-being of children.
- Monitor and evaluate the quality of care and education provided, making improvements as necessary.
- Manage the nursery budget, resources, and facilities effectively to ensure sustainability and compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education (Early Years Educator) or equivalent qualification.
- Proven experience in a managerial role within a nursery setting.
- Sound knowledge of early years curriculum, safeguarding practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to motivate and engage a diverse team.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to engage with stakeholders effectively.
Desired Skills:
- Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care and Children and Young People's Services.
- Experience in implementing quality improvement initiatives and achieving positive outcomes.
- Knowledge of child development theories and practices to enhance learning experiences.
- Ability to adapt to changing situations and demonstrate resilience under pressure.
- First Aid and Safeguarding qualifications to ensure the well-being of children.
Compensation & Benefits:
The salary range for the Nursery Manager position at the Department for Education in Southend-on-Sea is £28,000 - £35,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
