Key Responsibilities For Office Administrator:
- Coordinate office activities and operations to secure efficiency and compliance with VA policies
- Manage agendas, travel arrangements, and appointments for department leadership
- Organize and maintain files and records, ensuring they remain updated and accessible
- Support budgeting and bookkeeping procedures, including preparing financial reports
- Assist in the preparation of regularly scheduled reports
- Develop and maintain a filing system
- Update and maintain office policies and procedures
- Monitor and maintain office supplies inventory
- Liaise with other departments and external partners
- Perform receptionist duties when needed
- Other administrative tasks as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- Proven work experience as an Office Administrator, Office Assistant, or similar role
- Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, in particular)
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- High school diploma; additional qualifications in Office Administration are a plus
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
- Previous experience working in a government agency or healthcare setting
- Familiarity with basic accounting principles
- Ability to multitask and work independently
- Experience with electronic health records systems
- Understanding of veterans' issues and concerns
Compensation & Benefits:
The annual salary range for the Office Administrator position at the Department of Veterans Affairs in Baltimore, Maryland, is $45,000 to $55,000, commensurate with experience.
