Position Summary

GitHub is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Regulatory Alternative Legal Services Provider – Compliance to join our Legal team. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the USA. In this role, you will be responsible for providing compliance support across various regulatory areas. You will work closely with our legal and compliance teams to ensure that GitHub is operating in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. You will contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance programs, conduct research, and assist with compliance training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducting legal and regulatory research on a variety of compliance topics, including but not limited to privacy, data security, anti-corruption, and export control.
  • Assisting with the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance policies and procedures.
  • Supporting the preparation and filing of regulatory reports and filings.
  • Monitoring changes in laws and regulations and providing updates to the legal and compliance teams.
  • Assisting with internal compliance audits and investigations.
  • Contributing to the development and delivery of compliance training programs.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance requirements are integrated into business processes.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of compliance activities.
  • Managing compliance-related projects and initiatives.
  • Contributing to the development and improvement of compliance tools and systems.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a compliance role, preferably within the technology industry.
  • Strong understanding of compliance laws, regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Must be located within the United States.

Technical Requirements

As a fully remote employee, you will need to meet the following technical requirements:

  • Dedicated home office space free from distractions.
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection (minimum 50 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload).
  • A modern computer with a webcam and microphone.
  • Proficiency with remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
  • Availability to work during standard business hours in the Pacific Time Zone (PT) with flexibility to accommodate occasional meetings outside of these hours.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with compliance management software.
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
  • Experience in the software development or technology industry.
  • Certification in compliance (e.g., Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP)).
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills to thrive in a remote work setting.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this remote position is $70,000 - $95,000, depending on experience and location within the USA.
