Position Summary
Meta is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Regulatory Intellectual Property Counsel specializing in Privacy and Data Protection to join our dynamic legal team. As a fully remote employee, you will play a crucial role in advising Meta on intellectual property matters related to privacy and data protection regulations across various jurisdictions. You will work closely with product, engineering, and policy teams to develop and implement innovative solutions that protect our users' privacy while fostering technological advancement. Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal advice and guidance on intellectual property aspects of privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, CCPA, and other emerging regulations.
- Conduct intellectual property due diligence for new products and features, identifying potential risks and developing mitigation strategies.
- Draft, review, and negotiate intellectual property agreements related to data privacy, including data processing agreements, data sharing agreements, and technology licenses.
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and policy teams to develop privacy-enhancing technologies and ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
- Monitor and analyze legislative and regulatory developments related to intellectual property and data privacy, advising the company on potential impacts and opportunities.
- Develop and deliver training programs on intellectual property and data privacy for internal stakeholders.
- Support intellectual property litigation and enforcement efforts related to privacy and data protection.
- Manage outside counsel as needed.
- Participate in virtual team meetings and collaborate effectively with colleagues across different time zones.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school and membership in good standing in at least one US state bar.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience practicing law, with a focus on intellectual property and data privacy.
- Deep understanding of intellectual property law, including patent, copyright, and trade secret law.
- Extensive knowledge of data privacy laws and regulations, including GDPR, CCPA, and other global privacy regimes.
- Experience advising on intellectual property issues related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, and other emerging technologies.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a remote environment, including strong self-discipline, time management skills, and communication skills.
Technical Requirements
- Dedicated home office space free from distractions.
- High-speed internet connection with a minimum upload speed of 10 Mbps and download speed of 50 Mbps.
- Reliable computer equipment, including a laptop or desktop computer, webcam, and headset. Meta may provide a stipend for home office equipment.
- Availability to work during core business hours in at least one US time zone (Pacific, Mountain, Central, or Eastern).
Desired Skills
- Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) or Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) certification.
- Experience working with international data privacy laws and regulations.
- Familiarity with data security principles and practices.
- Experience in the technology industry.
- Strong project management skills.
- Experience using remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Zoom, and Google Workspace.
Compensation & Benefits
The annual salary range for this fully remote position is $200,000 - $280,000, commensurate with experience and location within the USA. Meta also offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
