Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Software Cybersecurity Analyst with a strong focus on backend systems to join our dynamic team. This is a fully remote position, offering the opportunity to work from anywhere in the United States. As a Software Cybersecurity Analyst, you will play a critical role in safeguarding our clients' backend infrastructure, applications, and data against evolving cyber threats. You will collaborate with development teams, security architects, and other stakeholders to identify vulnerabilities, implement security controls, and ensure compliance with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of backend technologies, security principles, and incident response procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct security assessments and penetration testing of backend systems, including APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Identify and analyze security vulnerabilities in software code, configurations, and deployments.
  • Develop and implement security controls and mitigation strategies to address identified vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate security into the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Participate in incident response activities, including investigation, containment, and remediation of security incidents.
  • Monitor security logs and alerts to detect and respond to suspicious activity.
  • Develop and maintain security documentation, including security policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on the latest security threats, vulnerabilities, and technologies.
  • Provide security guidance and training to development teams and other stakeholders.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and collaborate with remote colleagues using communication tools.
  • Contribute to virtual team-building activities and maintain a positive remote work environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in software cybersecurity, with a focus on backend systems.
  • Strong understanding of backend technologies, including APIs, databases, and cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Experience with security assessment and penetration testing tools.
  • Knowledge of security vulnerabilities such as OWASP Top 10 and CWE/SANS Top 25.
  • Experience with security incident response and handling.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a remote team.
  • Must be able to work remotely from a suitable home office environment.
  • Must have reliable high-speed internet access.

Technical Requirements

  • Home Office Setup: Dedicated workspace free from distractions. Deloitte may provide a stipend to support home office setup.
  • Internet Speed: Minimum internet speed of 25 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload.
  • Time Zone: Must be available to work during core business hours in the Eastern Time Zone (ET).
  • Communication Tools: Proficiency with collaboration platforms such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
  • Deloitte will provide a laptop and necessary software for the role.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or Bash.
  • Experience with security automation tools and techniques.
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH.
  • Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, HIPAA, or PCI DSS.
  • Familiarity with DevOps and Agile methodologies.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this fully remote Software Cybersecurity Analyst - Backend position is $110,000 - $140,000, depending on experience and qualifications.
