Position Summary

PwC is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Chief Technology Officer (CTO) - API Development to lead our API development initiatives. This is a fully REMOTE position, allowing you to work from anywhere in the USA. As the Staff CTO, you will be responsible for driving the strategy, architecture, and execution of our API development roadmap. You will play a crucial role in shaping the future of our technology platforms, ensuring scalability, security, and seamless integration with internal and external systems. This role requires a deep understanding of API design principles, microservices architecture, and modern development practices. The Staff CTO will lead a team of talented engineers and collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to deliver innovative and impactful solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute the overall API development strategy, aligning with PwC's business objectives.
  • Lead the design and architecture of robust, scalable, and secure APIs using modern technologies and best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of API developers, fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and other stakeholders to define API requirements and prioritize development efforts.
  • Oversee the implementation and maintenance of API gateways, security policies, and monitoring systems.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to API security and data privacy.
  • Drive the adoption of DevOps principles and automation to streamline the API development lifecycle.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in API technology and evaluate new tools and frameworks.
  • Contribute to the development of technical documentation and training materials for internal and external users.
  • Participate in virtual team meetings and contribute to remote team building activities.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of experience in software development, with a focus on API design and development.
  • Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing API development teams.
  • Deep understanding of API design principles, RESTful architectures, and microservices.
  • Extensive experience with API gateways, security protocols (OAuth, JWT), and rate limiting strategies.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, Python, or Node.js.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a REMOTE environment.
  • Must be located in the USA and eligible to work in the US without sponsorship.
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies.

Technical Requirements

To ensure success in this REMOTE role, you must have the following technical capabilities:

  • Dedicated home office space free from distractions.
  • High-speed internet connection with a minimum upload speed of 25 Mbps.
  • Company-provided laptop and other necessary equipment. A home office stipend may be available.
  • Ability to work effectively within the Eastern Time Zone (ET) or Central Time Zone (CT) working hours is preferred.
  • Proficiency in using remote collaboration tools such as Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.

Desired Skills

  • Experience with API management platforms such as Apigee or Kong.
  • Knowledge of serverless computing and event-driven architectures.
  • Familiarity with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices for API development.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Prior experience working in a large enterprise environment.

Compensation & Benefits

The annual salary range for this REMOTE Staff CTO - API Development position is $220,000 - $300,000, commensurate with experience and location. PwC offers a comprehensive benefits package, including:
