The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) of India has officially opened applications for its prestigious Winter Internship Programme (WIP) 2025. This is a highly sought-after four-week paid opportunity designed to promote Human Rights literacy and awareness among India’s top students.

Eligibility Criteria: Who Can Apply?
Candidates must be students of regular courses from UGC-recognised universities and meet strict academic thresholds:
- Minimum Marks: Must have attained a minimum of 65% marks in Class XII and all subsequent Semesters.
- Age Limit: Must not be more than 28 years of age as on 01.10.2025.
- Eligible Courses:
- Law: Students pursuing 2nd or 3rd year of 3-year LLB; 4th and 5th years of 5-year Integrated Course (BA LLB/BBA LLB, etc.); or LLM Course.
- Postgraduate: Students pursuing MA, PG Diploma in Human Rights, Political Science, Sociology, Social Work (MSW), Criminology, Public Administration, Economics, History, and Mass Communication (final year students preferred).
- Exclusion: Students who have previously attended the regular one-month Winter/Summer Internship Programmes organized by NHRC are not eligible.
Competitive Selection Process
Selection is entirely merit-based and calculated out of a total of 100 marks:
- Academic Marks (70% Weightage):
- Class XII Marks: 30 Marks
- Graduation Marks: 40 Marks
- Write-up / SOP (30% Weightage): A 250-word write-up (Statement of Purpose) on the topic ‘Reason for joining as an Intern in NHRC’. Research potential will be preferred here.
Mandatory Application Requirements
The application is strictly online and requires specific documentation. Incomplete applications will be rejected.
- Academic Records: Scanned attested photocopies (attested by HoD/Principal) of mark-sheets for Class X onwards, including every year/semester of the presently pursued course.
- Letter of Recommendation (LOR): LOR bearing the name, signature, date, and seal of the Principal/HOD/Dean (as per Annexure-I format).
- Statement of Purpose (SOP): The 250-word write-up submitted online.
- Caste/Disability Certificate: Self-attested copy (if applicable).
